Iberoamericana Editorial Vervuert, a publishing house and bookstore, was founded in 1975 in Frankfurt, Germany. Our office in Madrid, Spain opened in 1996, and as of 2009, we also publish in Mexico.

Our editorial activity focuses on academic books about Latin America and Spain in the following subject areas:

• History and Cultural Studies
• Linguistics
• Politics and Social Science
• Art

Our books series span several centuries, from Medievalia Hispánica, Biblioteca Áurea Hispánica and Parecos y Australes – Estudios de Cultura de la Colonia to collections on contemporary Latin American Studies, such as Nexos y Diferencias – Estudios de Cultura de América Latina or La Casa de la Riqueza – Estudios de Cultura de España. Other notable series are El Fuego Nuevo – Textos Recobrados, which publishes unjustly forgotten novels, poetry, journals, and other literary documents, and La Crítica Practicante – Ensayos Latinoamericanos, where we compile essays of both creative and critical merit. Our series on Linguistics, like Lengua y Sociedad en el Mundo Hispánico and Lingüística Iberoamericana, favor the broad field of Sociolinguistics.

Iberoamericana Editorial Vervuert is committed to international dialogue and exchange; therefore, we have established a policy in which the directors of all of our collections come from diverse countries. All our publications are peer-reviewed.

Librería Iberoamericana – our bookstore

Our bookstore in Madrid opened in 2004. As an academic bookstore specializing in Spanish and Latin American Cultures, we can provide you with any book published in Spain and Latin America. Our publications are widely distributed to libraries, academic institutions, and scholars throughout the world.

We regularly publish the catalogs Nuevos Libros de España and Nuevos Libros de América Latina, where you can find up-to-date information on books recently published in those regions. Printed versions of our catalogs are available upon request and can be mailed /sent to you quarterly.  You can also find them in electronic format on our website.
